Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Victory also means he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving play style and regular reactions on court had caused some to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a close final set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
