The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Anger About Sizing Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.

Online Platforms Response

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Changes

Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Service Background

The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
